Nepal's capital Kathmandu first opened itself to tourists in the 1950s. For many, the real joy in this city is breaking away from the commercial districts and exploring Nepal's grittier side. Away from the tourist enclave, Kathmandu's more authentic neighborhoods are tucked into back alleys.
